Trick or Treat Tips

Here are Richmond Halloween's Top Thirteen Trick or Treat tips:

  1. Always carry a flashlight and wear some glow gear (necklaces, bracelets, sticks), Safety + Spooky = Win
  2. Little Ghouls should always be accompanied by an adult, one they'll listen to. Make the night even more memorable for the kids by having all the adults dress up as well, you might just get some treats of your own!
  3. Trick or treat in groups and make sure each group has at least one cell phone.
  4. Review basic safety tips before heading out, never go inside someone's home, never get in a stranger's car, don't play in the streets, etc.
  5. Make sure your shoes and costumes fit properly, stumbling vampires are not scary! Wear costumes made of flame-retardant material.
  6. Only go to houses that are lit.
  7. If wearing a mask, make sure you can breath and see well with it on. Hats, face paint and fake blood are often better than masks, not only is it easier to see out of it's easier to eat candy!
  8. Speaking of candy, make sure an adult inspects any candy before eating any.
  9. Carry only flexible props (knives, staffs, swords, severed arms, etc.) that can't cause injury if you accidentally fall.
  10. Stay away from pets you don't know, animals are usually freaked out on Halloween with all the commotion.
  11. Plan your route and let your family know where you are going.
  12. Make sure to eat a good dinner and hit the restroom before heading out.
  13. Have Fun!!!
